Law Office Of Charles A. Tweedy
I graduated from University of California, Berkeley, in 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics. I received a Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1980, and a Master of Laws degree in Business & Taxation Law from McGeorge School of Law in 1983.
I was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1980, and am also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern, Northern and Central Districts of California and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Since my admission to the State Bar, I have practiced in the areas of business and commercial transactional law and litigation, including commercial real estate acquisitions and financing, commercial litigation, corporate, partnership, and limited liability company formations, operation and dissolution actions, buying and selling businesses, and construction defect and mechanic’s lien litigation.
My clients have included individuals, commercial real estate brokers, insurance brokers, general building and engineering contractors, subcontractors, developers, and a variety of business people ranging from architects to computer information network system providers. I have also been retained on occasion by insurance carriers to act as independent counsel for his clients in the event of potential conflicts of interest between the insured and the insurance carriers.
Although my practice is primarily in the greater Sacramento Area have represented clients and cases Alameda, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, San Juaquin, San Francisco, Solano, Yuba, Yolo, and as far away as Plumas county. “Have gun will travel” in the Paladin sense, without the gun, of course.
While I have handled numerous complex litigations, I also handle relatively small disputes for my clients and am critically aware that representation must be cost effective in order to be effective at all. In order to meet that objective, I encourage my clients to be actively involved in their cases and the decision making process whenever practical.
My business and litigation philosophy is result oriented. My goal is to achieve the best economic result for my clients. In business matters, my focus is to enable the transaction to be a success while protecting my clients’ interests and advising them of the potential risks of their alternatives. In litigation, I am focused not only on the issues of the case, but also on the cost of litigation and the opportunities for resolution. When that cannot be done, I will happily take the case to trial. Whether it is a half day simple matter or a complex litigation*, I am always ready to go the distance.
“My longest trial to judgment in my client’s favor, 107 trial days.”
